Guild Meeting

I had so much fun at our guild meeting yesterday. Our guild is the Mountain Spinners and Weavers. It was the yearly silent auction and there was lot and lots of good stuff to bid on and try to win. We had three tables of books and magazines, six tables of yarns and fibers, two tables of equipment, the stage edge was full of fabric, and a table of odds and ends. By tables I mean the 6 foot long ones. I was bidding on some nice 7/2 cotton in lavender, a book on lace knitting, both of which I lost. But I did win something! I got a 2-harness table loom!!! For only 8.00!!!! It does need some work but I got lots of offers of help with it from the other folks in the guild. It needs new harnesses mostly, but the rest of it is in place. I want to get a new beater for it, since the one it came with is rusty, and I was told it needed some kind of brake for it too. All in all, it is repairable, and a great way for me to learn weaving without a huge investment in it. Its the perfect size to make some table runners, placemats and napkins that all match for my new house!

It was great seeing my guild friends too, and catching up with their lives. I haven't been able to make it to too many guild meetings in the past 6 months cus Mike has been working on those days. This month worked out very well with him being off so I could go. They have some exciting programs coming up that I want to go to also. One is on spinning beaded yarn and the other is on acid dying. Those are both late spring so I will be all moved by then!

It was a fun day! Bye Bye!

Congratulations on having such a lovely guild with fiber people to share so much! I have a nice guild but they are so far away I don't get many chance to see them. Always a treat when I do!

Leslie, I'm sorry you dont get too many chances to visit your guild. Glad you have it to look forward to when you can go.

Thanks Cyndy, I'm looking forward to trying out the loom soon.
