More Takli Spinning

Spent some time spinning yesterday on the takli. Tried a few different fibers now that I feel more confident on it. First I took on the silk noil, which actually spun this time. I like how it gives a bumpy yarn, but I didn't like all the little woodie tree bits, or whatever they are, that are in it. I spent as much time picking goobers out as I did spinning. Second fiber was some soy silk, but that didn't spin well at all. Started out too fat then got so thin it kept breaking. I think the staple was too long for the talki. Either that or I just need more practice.

Third go round was some leftover merino/silk blend, which worked fantastic! Here's what I got done yesterday with the merino/silk fiber. It spins a beautifully thin, even yarn and its really easy to draft out. Sorta has a nice "slide" to it. It was a real treat to spin this. I want to see how much I can load up on the spindle at one time with this, then ply it back onto itself. Oh I just love playing around like this! Course, this doesn't get the house packed up does it? Well, some things can wait for the sake of sanity! LOL!!

Mrs. Burbie is very much broody at the moment. She only got off the nest box once in the past 24 hours now. She doesn't even have an egg to sit on, poor little girl. She looks so forlorn sitting there all by herself, cooing to her non-existent babies. I'm hoping that after a few days of this she will realize that its all for naught, and she will stop.

My daughter is going to a sleep over tonight at her friends house. She is so excited about, its all I have heard for the past three days now. I think the rest of us will have a popcorn and movie night for ourselves.

Mike found some more boards at the local construction site dump pile that will work out great for the raised bed garden boxes at the new house. So far we are guessing we have enough boards for about 6 boxes. We need atleast 10, so the scavenge goes on! They throw away the most useful stuff over there!

Time to get going here! Bye Bye!
