Shawl Days
Yesterday was a shawl day for me, and I love those days. Its just warm enough that you don't need the heat on, but cool enough that an extra layer is needed to keep you cozy. That was yesterday, it was a shawl day. I took down my shawl and proudly wore it all day. Its a lovely shawl, if you ask me. Made from handspun rose brown merino wool and silk, and knit in a sort of plain shetland pattern, its a big square of wooly softness. I love to wrap it around me and get all snuggly in it. Its like having big arms to hold you all day long. Its an emotional thing too, its comfort food for your outer body. Its yummy.
I love to wear my shawls anyplace, although I do get some funny looks at the grocery store sometimes, but I also see people looking at them with longing in their eyes. I like to think that there is a shawl someplace in their life that ment something to them, maybe it was their grandma's or it reminds them of a special blanket they had as a child, and they want it back. Maybe they need that emotional hug that you can get from a shawl. I think everyone should have a shawl they can wrap themselves up in and take the time to enjoy the feeling of being safe, secure, and loved.
Yesterday was my shawl day.
Bye Bye!

I'm a shawl girl, too, and mine are always handy. This is a cold old house!
They are wonderful!
