Something Stinky This Way Comes

Decided to take advantage of the fact that my daughter was gone and go pack up some of her room. Best way to get packing done, this way there was no argument about what got packed and what stayed out. Well, there was the most amazingly funky smell emanating from her room. First thought of mine was that she left some dirty clothes hiding in the corner that had fermented a bit. Hmmm, no dirty clothes to be found. Food? Didn't find any of that either. I went thru the closet, behind the bed, in the night table drawer, behind and inside the toy box and found nothing. So I sat down on the floor and started to pack up boxes.

Oh My Gosh! The stench almost made me pass out!

Found the smell.

Coming from the heat duct in the floor.

Something died in there.

Something really smelly.

Got the window opened right quick.

Out comes the vacuum, no luck, the hose cant bend around the edge to get into the duct.

Out comes the clothes hanger, bent for better access.

Nothing.

Now the stench has made it to the living room AND kitchen.

Hubby comes home from work and got the plumbers snake out. We ran that sucker back and forth thru the vent from the living room to the bedroom multiple times. Even used the clothes hanger bent up like a snow plow and attached to the snake and ran that thru more times.

Nothing.

Got lots of other stuff out of there. Giant dust bunnies, toys, maker pens, crayons, but nothing dead.

Oh boy.

Is it under the house? Out come the flashlights and we venture forth. Cant find anything under there either, cept a bunch of gopher holes and black widow spider nests.

Going to have to borrow a shop vac tomorrow from the neighbor and see if we can suck it out.

Meanwhile, my poor daughter is just mortified at the smell in her room, so she slept in the livingroom all night instead.

Never a dull moment is there?

I'll keep you updated! Bye Bye!
